Grandpa Weed

Our Grandpa Weed passed away two weeks ago and we traveled up to Utah to enjoy being with family and celebrating the life of this good husband, father, grandfather and man. He was 86 at the time of his death and was married to Grandma Chloe for over 64 years. He was quarterback of the first BYU football team to beat the University of Utah. He and Grandma met while at BYU--he was the Student Body President and she was the Student Body Vice President. A few days after being married he left to fight in the Pacific during World War II and was gone for about 2 years. He received a PhD in Plant Physiology, worked in research and marketing for the DuPont Company and enjoyed professional success--living back East for almost 40 years and raising their 6 kids. He served faithfully in the Church as a Branch President, Stake President, Regional Representative of the 12, Mission President and Stake Patriarch--but above all, he loved and was devoted to his wife and family.

Julie, I was so glad to see your comment on our blogsite. And so glad to come back to yours and read about Dave's father. It's so amazing to me that we can live so close and even be in the same ward and not always know what's going on in each others lives. So sorry to hear about his passing. Sounds like he lived a very good and prosperous life filled with much service to the Lord. Our best to all of your family.

It was so nice to see your family. What a great reunion we were able to have in celebration of grandpa's life. He was truly an amazing man and we will all miss him.

I sure wish all of our families could get together more often. It's always a good time.

What a dashing handsome man. I remember when I first met Dave's father, how impressed I was with his strong powerful presence I remember thinking, If Dave turns out like his dad...Julie really got a good one! I hope you know we were all thinking of you both during this time and praying for you.
